The reason I bought this unit was for iPod itegration. What I wanted was simple:
1) a unit that would allow me to connect an ipod such that the ipod was concealed in the glove box or the hutch
2) a unit that charged the ipod when connected
3) a unit that allowed touch-screen navigation of songs, playlists, etc
4) a unit that would integrate with my steering-wheel controls on my Navigator

On item 1 above (concealment), the unit fails. Here's why. The only way to get 2 (charging) and 3 (touch-screen) is to plug the iPod into the USB port ON THE FRONT of the unit.

While there is an AV port on the back, it treats the ipod purely as an audio source and WILL NOT ENABLE touch-screen navigation of the ipod songs. Extremely annoying because there was nowhere in the online documentation that spelled this out. What's worse, I bought the cable and hooked it up anyway. So I can listen to the music but if I want to change songs then I have to do so on the ipod itself (so forget about concealment). The worst part is that since the unit thinks the ipod is now an AV (audio/visual) source, it shows this annoying message on the unit screen constantly that tells you it's not safe to drive while watching a video... ARRRRGGGGHHHH!

So my solution is to run an very ugly USB cable out of the front of the unit and into my center console.

The solution (Pioneer, I hope you're listening) is to put a USB port on the rear of the unit for ipod integration.

Extremely annoying. I'm upset with Pioneer for such crummy online documentation of these details and I frankly expected more of Amazon, too.
